Rich Swann & Akira Tozawa v. Brian Kendrick & Noam Dar
Here is the match for the cruiserweights who have nothing to do. While the cruiserweight division is meant to be very exciting, WWE’s desire to simply add them to the pre-show with little story to back it up is becoming a bad habit. There is some good storytelling in this match. Kendrick has been trying to take Tozawa under his wing as a mentor, but Tozawa has rebuffed his attempts, leading to the animosity between these two. And Swann….said Dar couldn’t handle it or something. I’m not sure why these two are added to the match. Tozawa v. Kendrick could have been an excellent showcase for the two stars. Now it feels like they are simply trying to fill up the show with people.
Prediction: Swann & Tozawa
Most pre-show matches are simply meant to excite the fans, make them happy, and prepare them the main card ahead. This is likely to be no different. Swann will excite the crowd with his fun antics. Tozawa will excite the crowd with his dynamic offense. Faces win. Heels lose. Rinse. Repeat.
