Alexa Bliss (c) v. Becky Lynch v. Carmella v. Mickie James v. Natalya v. Naomi
(Smackdown Women’s Championship 6-Pack Challenge)
I am very curous what this match would have been had Naomi not gotten hurt. A day after her victory at Elimination Chamber, Naomi had to surrender her title due to injury. Alexa Bliss ended up with the title, and the build to this match has been lackluster. Every women feels like they are being rushed into this program, and the result has been disappointing. The best idea for this program should have been for there to be no champion leading into a multi-woman match at WrestleMania. C’est la vie.
This one seems like a gimme. Given the move to the kickoff show, the results of this match seem to be straightforward and crowd appeasing. Naomi is the hometown girl, which is the reason she was given the title in the first place. Giving her a big win at WrestleMania in Orlando, the crowd will go insane and bring the energy way up leading into the show.
Neville (c) v. Austin Aries
(Cruiserweight Championship Match)
The cruiserweights continue to evolve. Neville has really helped legitimize the division, and the addition of Austin Aries provides top notch talent that people want to cheer for. The continued addition of these well-known commodities help to bring the entire division more room to grow. The younger stars like Mustafa Ali and Akira Tozawa will continue to grow into the spotlight that Aries and Neville created. Having said all this, it is very sad to see that this match is on the kickoff show. If you want the division to grow, why would you push it out of the show? Either way, this has the potential to be a great match.
This has all the makings of a feud that is just starting. Both these men have a legitimate claim to the title and could easily carry this division on their back, which is why their feud needs to carry pass WrestleMania. Neville can win using through cheating, which starts to show cracks in his unbeatable persona. Over time, he will fall from his throne. But the time has not yet come.
John Cena & Nikki Bella v. The Miz & Maryse
When this match was nothing but a rumor, fans were livid. The prospect of using John Cena to simply be a prop in a Total Divas episode turned match was harrowing. But as time went on and the story began to take shape, this match has become one of the marquee matches of the night. The Miz has proven over the last year that he is a top star, and working with John Cena once again has proven to be a huge opportunity. The two have been fantastic on the mic, throwing verbal rocks at each other laced with reality from the Total Divas reality show. Add in two excellent women wrestlers in Nikki Bella and Maryse, and this match has the potential to surprise a lot of people.
Prediction: John Cena & Nikki Bella
Despite how good The Miz has been, this match was tailor-made for John and Nikki. Cena is looking at a long absence to further claim his stake in Hollywood, while Nikki is said to be officially retiring after this match. The power couple have been huge stars for WWE, and giving them a win for their only time wrestling together seems only fitting. The question is: will John Cena propose? He has been avoiding that commitment to this point, but with the constant barbs at that fact from The Miz, it looks like a fairy tale ending for these two. But I digress.
