NFL Mock Draft 2017: Baltimore Ravens & Washington

We are almost there. Less than a week away from the NFL draft, and Babble Royale has analysis on all the teams drafting in the first round. This time around, it’s Baltimore and Washington.

Baltimore Ravens

1st Round Picks: #16

Baltimore has made some excellent moves so far this offseason. By signing S Tony Jefferson and CB Brandon Carr, as well as re-signing DT Brandon Williams, the Ravens have strengthened their defense to battle in a tough AFC North. However, Baltimore was hit a couple big losses as well. WR Steve Smith retired and WR Kamar Aiken signed elsewhere, leaving the passing game devoid of major weapons. While the Ravens have always competed thanks to a tough offense, they will be closer to the bottom of the league if they do not find some impressive firepower.

Pick #16: WR Corey Davis (WMU)

Corey Davis has all the tools to be a red-zone monster. He competes for every pass and has the stats to prove how often he comes down with it. He doesn’t have the elite speed to be a highlight machine, but he has the consistency and route-running savvy to be a high-volume target for any QB. With QB Joe Flacco throwing to him, Davis can put up rather impressive numbers in his rookie season.

1st Round Picks: #17

Washington was one game away from making the playoffs. Facing the Giants in Week 17, a win would have garnered them a wildcard spot. But the Giants proved to be the better team. Now, HC Jay Gruden has a poor defense to fix if Washington is going to have any hope at making the playoffs this upcoming season. QB Kirk Cousins has come into his own as the franchise QB, and the offensive weapons are there. The defense simply needs to step up and help keep games within reach.

Pick #17: S Malik Hooker (Ohio State)

Washington gets extremely lucky in this scenario. Malik Hooker is a tremendous playmaker with excellent instincts for covering the pass. Hooker has all the ability to make an instant impact on Washington’s defense, injecting some much need youth at the safety position. He also allows the defense to be far more dangerous, with the potential to change possession on any given play. This is the high impact player Washington needs on defense.
